MARKETING AND SALES STRATEGY

We have done a lot of research by looking into similar products that are on the market and making sure that we made improvements in order to make Starlights stand out. We worked on several ideas originally but focused on making a product that is kind to the planet, uses a sustainable energy and most defiantly has the wow factor!

People were very impressed with our green credentials and said that they would choose us over the competition because of it.

We did other market research by compiling a questionnaire which we took around to help us discover who would be interested in our Starlights. We done this to find a price that was fare and would still make a profit. From this we have decided to not only sell our Starlights at markets to the general public but, to build up a client base of restaurants, cafés and bars that can have our Starlights transform their rooms into an eco-friendly magical environment. We can add their company logo to personalize the product to them. We are starting off by setting a photoshoot in the college student restaurant and getting our photos and product on social media ASAP. which we have already created an Instagram account.

ABOUT US

Welcome to the Starlight website! We are a group of students from New City College in Poplar and we make magical solar powered recycled bottle lights with inspirational messages which are positive and enlightening to everyone. The Starlights are gentle and calming and set a peaceful environment wherever they are arranged. They can set a party mood when used in an outdoor setting or create moment of awe when you step into a restaurant of café that uses Starlights.

Moreover, we want to make a brighter future for everyone and in choosing to use recycled materials and using solar power, we can be kind to the planet and would make our customers respect these values. This is where we stand out against the competition being environmentally friendly and using a sustainable power source. As well as selling to the general public in markets we will sell our Starlights to cafés, restaurants, bars and outdoor event spaces.

FINANCIAL PLAN AND PROJECTIONS

Our numbers come mainly from our extensive market research and lots of discussions and sharing of thoughts and ideas. From this our Finance Manager Jibril has worked out a fair price that people are willing to pay but at the same time we can start to make a profit. As our outgoings are relatively small, we hope to turn a profit quite quickly. We hope to find that when we have made some money to put back into the business, we can find a supplier for the solar panels that we can buy in bulk and cut down the costs. Initially the price we are paying is not the cheapest because we have opted to go for solar power rather than battery operated lights. But this was very important to us and the ethos of the company.

LABOUR

We also have deliberately chosen a product that is not very time consuming to construct and the main labour is cleaning the bottles and removing the labels but with our excellent team work we all joined in and got the job done in good time. The fitting of the lights and solar panel is a little fiddly but the more we did this the quicker we got.
